The HPE P48183-B21 is a storage card designed to give ProLiant Gen11 servers a reliable, mirrored boot volume without consuming front-bay drive slots. It supports hot plug operation and arrives with two 2280 NVMe solid state drives already set up in hardware RAID 1, so the host sees a single, resilient 480 GB NVMe device as soon as the card is installed.

Because the mirroring takes place on the card itself, there is no need to load drivers or launch a configuration utility. Administrators can slide the card into a PCIe Gen3 slot, power up the server, and immediately install VMware ESXi, Linux, or Windows. The process keeps the operating system separate from application data, which simplifies upgrades, backups, and disaster-recovery plans.
