This is a black amethyst glass tray with a fancy center handle. The plate is eight-sided and tips up on the edges to prevent accidental sliding. The black color can be held to the light to see the shadings of amethyst. Made by the New Martinsville Glass Co. in the 1930's, these servers were meant to hold appetizers, pastries, or cookies. Today, cupcakes or garnished sliced fruits come to mind. Width: 11¼ inches; height: 5¼ inches. In very good vintage condition! I live in the Tampa Bay area for local delivery.
